Blog ImageOkay, my new little, mini, small project! -My Twitter

My Twitter is basically a little web application I made using my Twitter class. It was a little 2 hour project that can really be explained in more detail at the projects page (Click here for the projects page).

In a short summary, it uses my Twitter class... to get my tweets... which is then displayed on my 'My Twitter' page.

I must admit, it was good fun messing around with Twitter's API. Although watch out, their website is very slow, so if you plan on making your own class, only make calls once, minimum, every hour. Then cache it etc etc(Which is basically what I did Smile).

So, I have been doing a little work on the plan for Killego 2. I want to make sure I plan everything perfectly before I start making it, otherwise distaster could happen.

Now, using my new [list] tag I recently added, here is a list of thoughts and ideas for Killego 2. If you think anything should be added/changed/removed, then please leave a comment saying so.
  • Killego 2 could be split into various levels, each level contained in it's own Flash file. To access the level 2 Flash file, you will need the password obtained when you beat level 1. This will solve my filesize problem of it being too big as everything will be seperated into small manageable files that anyone with any internet speed can use. This will also allow for expandability. I can add new levels when ever I make them.

  • Killego 2 will be a lot more gamer friendly than the first version, meaning it will be challenging but fun at the same time (Killego 1 was made up as I went along and it was practically impossible to die)

  • I am definately hoping to improve on the visuals of the game, things like a better quality camera (Providing the file size of each image doesn't increase significantly) and a much nicer UI (If anyone is interested in helping with UI development, let me know)

  • The music definately needs an improvement, in Killego 1 I simply used what I could find on websites that offer free music. So if there are any composers out there, again, please contact me.

  • I am also hoping to increase the frame rate from 12 to whatever I can to make the game feel more smoother, without the file size increasing significantly.

  • This time, apart from picking up weapons from people you kill, there will be little puzzle rooms that you can enter (like different paths, except the other path leads to a puzzle room). The door will have a puzzle you need to solve to get through. The room can contain things like extra ammo, health, weapons etc.

  • There will be a lot more enemies. Killego 1 main reason the gameplay was lacking was due to the fact that there weren't enough enemies to shoot. You were watching cut scenes more than actually interacting with the game.

  • Provided I get enough Lego, I will make sure the walls aren't multi-coloured this time, but instead, colouring the walls so it is as realistic as possible. The sets etc will hopefully be built to high standard.

If you managed to read all that, well done! Please remember to comment on any ideas to be added/changed/removed!

Blog Image Well...

Today, I have been busy experimenting with the Axcid Api (Click here for the Axcid homepage) and managed to create a nice little website for music lovers aout there!

It basically allows you to search for a specific song, and listen to it! Pretty sweet huh?

Also, please note, this is just a little project I have made in my spare time. I don't plan to improve on it, however, I will fix any bugs lurking around. If you find a bug then please post a comment about it below.

Thanks! Big Grin

I never actually realised until today, of how popular Killego has become! (Click here to play Killego) After a simple search on Google for the term 'Killego', I managed to find over 80 websites worlwide that contained information and/or the actual game of Killego. I was completely overwhelmed!

I only intended this game to be a little project for Newgrounds and now it's become very popular indeed! This has really motivated me to further develop Killego 2 and to make sure it's as fun as original as possible.

Thank you to everyone who has been inspired and enjoyed this game!

Blog Image Okay, a little while ago, I created a game using entirely stop-motion animation for the graphics (along with a few HUD features created in Flash of course)...

It was a big hit, mainly due to it's originality. The gameplay, I admit, was terrible but I wanted to get this game over and done with to show off a sort of new style of gaming. The visuals of the game are what make people go 'wow' but I want Killego 2 to make people go... 'WOW!'!

So I went through almost 70 odd pages of comments, wrote down every original idea. Met up with an experienced gamer who could give me tips on how to make the game challenging, but still fun. Then finally began work on a plan!

I have already began work on the development of Killego 2! It looks promising and as well as feedback from the users, I have a lot of my own ideas as well! One being, "Reduce file size!". The file size was a big problem for Killego 1. You would end up waiting so long just to play a 5 minute game. With regards to the fact that thousands of images, side by side, used to create motion DOES mean the file size will not be nice and small, but I felt 16mb was just ridiculous. Most people still have 56k connections!

I assure you, I have overcome the problem which will reduce file size greatly and will update any readers of this blog (Please let there be someone reading this Big Grin), any news on Killego 2!

Well, thanks for reading, and I hope you look forward to the release of Killego 2!

Blog ImageAnother little update, i've incorporated the [url] tag for my blog. Going to be testing it for a while before I let comment posters use it for themselves. Again, I don't want anyone exploiting insecure code.

Blog ImageOkay, just a small note to say i've added support for images!

Right now I only have it set to work on my blog posts, i'll give users posting comments this ability once i've worked out the kinks, i.e. bugs. I don't want anyone exploiting some insecure code, do I?

Well the website is great so far, but I want to add some extra stuff. Not big things. Just a few extra little things like more BB code so I can get links, images and even tweets from my Twitter. Big Grin

BB code takes second to add, just a case of a new regular expression, although right now I am feeling tired and just want to settle down to the new episode of Supernatural! The best programme I have ever seen! Yrazers

Anyway, just felt like I needed a new blog update! Also please look out for news and updates on Killego 2 for those that know about it. Those who don't, you'll find out soon enough Smile

until next time...

I am very, very happy to announce that I have completed everything on my to-do list for CalumScott.Com. It's been a long week, but the best part about programming is the feeling at the end when you have finished something that you have worked really hard on. Thumbs up to that!

So what do you guys think? Have I done a good job? Big Grin

Thanks for reading, and welcome (officially) to CalumScott.Com!

The website is finally up!

What a pain it's been to get the blog and comment system completed. With countless errors/bugs to fix and functions to program, it's such a relief to be posting this!

Also, no matter how many times I test the system, there is still always going to be bugs and exploits lurking around somewhere. So if you could be helpful and post any bugs you find using my shiny new comment system Big Grin

Thanks!
