I am terribly sorry about the lack of updates. I am trying ever so hard to get my new revamped website built and uploaded. However, I have been very busy with all sorts of other things, exams to name of of them. So again, I apologise.

Now I guess this is a good time to mention the good news. I have just confirmed that my website is receiving, on average, around 2000 hits every day! I just think that's amazing considering I barely ever update it.

Of course this is all going to change. My exams will be over in a couple weeks and by then I should have plenty of time to get the new website ready. If you read the previous blog post you should be able to get a taster of what sort of things I plan for the new website and even a little taster of other projects I have been working on.

Now if anyone does actually visit this blog as much as my stats application shows then please get in touch, I'd love to hear from you. If you have any questions relating to anything computer related or even if you're just interested in a friendly chat. Feel free to get in touch with me via the contact page. You can find my IM address and my email address. If you prefer a more modern method of contact, talk to me on Twitter, @calumscott.

Christmas is coming up too guys, so if this turns out to be the last post I make this year then I hope you have a merry christmas and hope you and your family/friends have a great time. I managed to come across a random new toy which looks like it would be pretty fun to play and might turn out be a great christmas present. It's called Mind Flex and more information can be found on it by visiting http://www.mindflexgames.com/. So yeah, thanks for reading, hope you get in touch and have a merry christmas!

Blog ImageOkay, so the planning for my new website is going pretty well. I have been thinking of countless ideas to make my next website update something to be proud of. I am planning on things such as Twitter feeds, RSS feeds, better organisation etc etc. There is many more features but not enough time to list them all.

I have recently ventured into the world of CodeIgniter, an awesome PHP framework (fully object oriented) that I plan on using for all my projects from now on. To be honest, I never even used a framework for this website. I just hand coded it all. A pain in the hand I tell ya.

I am announcing a new project, Project Gabriel. I don't want to disclose any information just yet until I have everything planned out. So yeah, look out for that. Killego 2 is going unbelievably great! We have a great storyline, graphic storyboards, some betas and a lot of wasted paper being used to make sure Killego 2 will be a great success!

Also... recently I have been working with a lot of people, helping convert their web templates into a working website consisting of only valid xHTML and CSS code. I admit, it's made me a fair buck or two.

Oh yeah, if you don't know already I have been working with Vitare (click here) on their new development website. They have asked me to use xHTML and CSS to program their web template, create a news system, preview system (for images/videos etc - programmed in Javascript! Big Grin) contact form in which all enquiries can be read through the control panel which I have also created. I also chucked in a very nice and powerful newsletter system as well! The development website will be released soon and I hope you all enjoy it when it is released.

*sigh* Well... that's all my news for now. No doubt I have a lot more I can say but to be honest, I'm tired, exhausted and not in the mood to type anything else besides this closing paragraph. So look out for all this new exciting stuff coming to a screen near you... yeah, over used, unfunny pun - but it puts the message across. Right?.

Yes, I think it's time. My website is starting to age a bit. I havn't really been updating it a lot partly due to my loss of interest in it. Sad

So I thought what better than to completely redo my whole website!Yrazers It's been good, kind of. With all the spam, unorganisation and old programming techniques smothering this site. I just think it would be better if I had the site redesigned and reprogrammed(is that a word?). Also, I am 15 now! I think I should have posted a little post saying so but like I said, this site is boring now! Big Grin

So I am thinking of getting a fresh, new Web 2.0 layout, using my Twitter class and incorporate my Tweets to flow with the layout. A little bit of my AS3 magic here and there.

So yeah, look out for CalumScott.com 2.0 - Smile

...and for anyone who actually reads my blog, besides the many spammers, thank you for visiting my blog! If you like programming, get in contact with me. You never know, you could make a new friend today Smile

Well, it has been a very long time since i've posted on my blog. I have been busy with so many things, doing this, coding that, it's been a busy summer.

For those that might be interested in my life, I went to Ibiza this summer and what a holiday it was! You couldn't walk for 5 minutes without getting a tan, luckily there was a swimming pool every hundred feet or so, with the sea just a five minute walk away. I just thought I'd let you know this considering Ibiza seems to be amazing. I went para-sailing, swimming (a lot of swimming actually), eating, drinking (definately a lot of drinking, it's so hot and humid, you feel like you're in a sauna) and countless numbers of snooker/pool games. So yeah, it was a great holiday.

So, the good news of this post, is that I have finally finished getting this website working for Internet Explorer users. I am sorry that it took so long to do, it's just I use Firefox and I forgot about your IE people. Although, you should be using Firefox anyway. I don't care how many people use IE, it's crap!

The bad news, which is also good news in a way, is my blog has been flooded with over 11,000 spam comments. It's unbelievable. My next website revision will most definately include a CAPTCHA, I was going to include it in this revision, although I didn't think I would need it... I thought wrong. Now, the good part to all this is that all the spam has been deleted and comments disabled, for now. At least until I get the CAPTCHA sorted.

So anyway, this Calum Scott and welcome IE users, to my blog!

Blog ImageActionscript 3 has to be one of the best languages I have ever learnt!

I managed to create pretty advanced stuff such as Twitter feeds and dynamic news scrollers, after 2 days of learning AS3! So my aim now is to create something more challenging and at the same time, benefit other people!

Let me introduce you to Project T-PA. This project is all about taking all the Actionscript 1 code that Tony Pa wrote for his Tile Based Games tutorials/E-Book (click here) and turn it into working Actionscript 3 code.

So far I have done pretty well and managed to convert 2 of his examples into working AS3 code. Which is great!

I am also looking for anyone interested to join me and help finish this thing quicker (you will also bring more experience to the table). Check out the contact page (click here) for more information on how to contact me!

Now, one last thing, I have opened a blog for this project which can be found by clicking here. This will contain every example available and also contain links to download the source code.

Well that's all the news for today, hope you check out Project T-PA and if you can, join the team! Big Grin

Blog ImageMy latest and greatest creation!

I guess I havn't posted anything in a little while, but I have a very good reason as to why!

For the past week or so, I have been working on a website for a friend that seems to be the biggest and best thing that I have ever created!

My friend has a group of friends whereby they all join together to make comedy themed videos. They have become very popular on YouTube and have made it into the top 100 Canadian comedians list twice on YouTube (Their previous account was unfortunately closed by a malicious user, although they seem to be attracting more and more viewers every day which shows good recovery!).

They "basically" wanted a website where users could log in, post comments on videos and news articles as well as rate videos. The admins wanted to be able to post videos, post articles and have everything automatically update an RSS feed.

Everything worked out perfectly! What made it even more fun was the fact that I learnt Actionscript 3 in around 2 days and created a Twitter feed and a Flash application whereby the admins can post featured news and have it display on the homepage, which could be edited via the administrator panel which I also created!

This website has been the most inspiring project yet. Hopefully I can now develop my sills further in AS3 and maybe make something even better!

Well, that's my latest news for now. If you would like to check out Laughing4Free visit http://www.laughing4free.com/ or click here!

Well...

Guess what I did today Smile

I uploaded a local website to this domain, along with the SQL data. However, one of the current table names conflicted with one I was uploading... so guess what I did?

I went and did an overwrite!!!

It's only just now when I revisted calumscott.com that I realised what I had done!!!

Luckily I had backup, but this was before I made 2 or 3 more posts. So if a post is missing... you know why.

So today, feel free to call me retard Smile

Blog ImageWell...

I have been very busy the past couple of days, trying to perfect the first release of, what will be known as, CRAWLER!

CRAWLER is a web crawler or 'spider' used to search a web page, find all the links on the page, then search the pages located at the links found. During all of this searching, the crawler will add (or index) every URL/URI to some sort of storage location.

Then, if you create a search engine, you can use the data obtained from the crawler to compare keywords with...

This might sound complicated, but for those who need it. This is a very useful web application! CRAWLER is ran through the PHP command line interface and keeps searching for links until no new links are found.

I am releasing CRAWLER as open source, instructions etc are inside the ZIP file. All I ask is that you keep the copyright intact for each file you are using.

To download CRAWLER V0.1, click here!

I hope you enjoy using CRAWLER, more updates will be released for it when have the time. Although no one is stopping you from editing the source yourself Smile

Another successful project! Big Grin

Blog ImageWell, today I have made a rather interesting (and pointless) discovery!

Unfortunately, it's been raining today. So I havn't been able to go out and do any of my usual stuff. So today I decided to check out Minesweeper!

I have always knew it existed and have, occasionally, tried to play it sometimes, but I never seemed to really get the hang of it... until now! Shocked

Windows 7, finally, has all the usual Wordpad and Paint etc updated! They all have a more updated and modern feel to it. Things like the ribbon which contains all the tools in an easy to use manner, making use of the bar above every program by adding buttons to it(the bar that has the title of the program on it, as well as the close, maximise and minimise button etc). Although most importantly, the games have been updated!

Minesweeper has gradients... sound... and overall it looks much nicer! So anyway, back to the topic Big Grin

I spent some time reading the instructions and finally understand how to play a proper game of Minesweeper!

So, that was today's bit of interesting news... Uhm... Big Grin

I am feeling that even though my website hasn't long been up. I think it could do with a... "makeover".

This website is the same example of what happened with Killego 1, I rushed Killego 1 so that I could get it online and allow other people to see it. Without any planning at all. Just like this website!

I never planned how I would organise any of my pages, and last minute decisions were made while the design of my website was in development. I think I really should just sit down and plan everything out.

So, don't be surprised if the layout changes all of a sudden. That's all I can say for now. Hopefully a planned change will be for the better. Smile
